Windows 8 & Xbox One are currently my obsession

Friday, 31 May 2013 12:27 Published in Sc&Tech

I've made a big decision recently. I'm going to write about my favourite tech stuff on this site every week, and that's about the only thing I'll write about.

X-Box ONE

Now, back to the real stuff. Do you know about the Xbox 360? Or better do you own one? Well, the big Xbox fans will be happy to know that a new console was announced by Microsoft about a week ago in Redmond, CA. It's the new Xbox ONE!!! The new Xbox has a new sleek, modern design which reminds us of some sort of TV cable set-top box. That's for a good reason, too. Xbox is now an entertainment, not only a gaming console. It wants to take over your living room (but not in a bad way). It will now allow you to experiecnce TV in a new way, use apps, watch movies, browse the web, watch sports, and multitask with a simple voice command or geture. But, most imporantly, to PLAY GAMES. There wasn't much information about the 15 games coming to the Xbox One at launch. What we do know is that Forza 5 and Call of Duty: Ghosts are going to be awesome and that out of those 15, 8 games will be exclusive to the Xbox ONE.

Next on our agenda: Windows 8 (and 8.1)

Windows 8 is the latest operating system from Microsoft which is so revolutionary, that it changes the game for PC and mobile OSes. Its best feature is the brand new Start Screen. There is no menu, far from it actually. There is a completely redesigned screen featuring Live Tiles (as seen on Windows Phone) who show you the infoermation YOU want, at a glance. It is the very best of personalisation, coming from windows. There are new modern apps and a store for modern apps, which now has over 150,000 apps since it's launc 6 monts ago. I love how the Start screen represents you, puts people in the centre of your attention and content, instead of plain icons. If you don't have it, I immediately reccomend you to try it. Now, I cannot go back to the stupid Start Menu on Windows 7. Here a screenshot of MY Start Screen.

My Windows 8 Start Screen

That's it for me for this week. I'll see you in about 1 and a half week, to talk about the new stuff at the E3 Gaming and WWDC Apple conference

Facebook Home

Monday, 08 April 2013 18:24 Published in Sc&Tech

Hi guys! I'm starting to like this category a lot so I will be posting here very often.

A few days ago a new product was announced from Facebook. It is a custom Android launcher, called Facebook Home. It shows you the latest posts, photos, links and other activity as soon as you turn the phone on. It uses Chat Heads to show new Facebook and text messages immediately no matter what app you are using.

Also, HTC announced HTC First, which is the new phone that will come preinstalled with Facebook Home. For android users who own a Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, HTC One X, HTC One X+ and the upcoming Galaxy S4, they can download Home from the Play Store starting April 12.

Do you like Home, or you think that is too much Facebook for your phone?

Social Networks you might have missed

Tuesday, 19 March 2013 21:49 Published in Sc&Tech

There are a lot of social networks  on the web. Some of them are great, but some of them are a miss. Here are the networks that are the most popular  with people today:

1. Facebook

Facebook is a great social network that everyone knows. It is fun, very personal and it makes communicating very easy. With its new features like the brand new graph search and revolutionised new news feed, Facebook is coming back strong and better.

+: very personal, revolutionised communication, easy to learn and available on a lot of languages.

-: privacy is too low, too much advertising.

2. Twitter

Twitter is the most popular social network in the world after Facebook. It is though very different. You use twitter by "tweeting" short messages and posting them to the public. People can follow you and you can follow them. #Hashtags are a great way to tag the subject of your tweet, and many other networks have adopted it too.

+: fun, simple, creative

-: no personal communication (everything's public)

P.S. For everyone who has a Twitter account, tweet at least once with #MilimarEdu an lets all connect there.

3. Ask.fm

Ask.fm may not be a proper social network. It is used as a Q&A site, where people can anonymously ask you questions and you can answer them. It is that simple.

+: fun, simple

-: it is not really "social", it gets used for all the wrong reasons (ex. Bullying)

4.  Pinterest

Pinterest is a site where you find stuff on the internet and pin them to boards. People can see eachothers boards and add comments and likes.

+: easy, goodlooking, fresh

-: again, it's not very social

5. Google +

Google plus was at first a facebook twin. But it evolved and now became a small social network with a lot of features and a fresh design.

+: similar to facebook, nice look

-: lack of users, too complicated to use

social networks bring us together

Balcancan

Thursday, 03 May 2012 18:39 Published in Movie

There aren't many movies that come from Macedonia, but this one is one of my favorites. This Movie is called Bal-can-can. It is one of the biggest Macedonian productions ever. It is the most watched Macedonian movie ever and it became the best Balcan movie in 2005. This movie is a collaboration between Italy and the Balcan countries. What I mean is that this movie starred the biggest Balcan actors and the biggest Italian actors: Vlado Jovanovski (MK), Adolfo Margiotta (IT), Nikola Kojo (SRB) and many others...

The movie is about the war in 2001 here in the Balcans. Trendafil Karanfilov is a military deserter and he doesn't want to be found by a military commander called Dzango Sapun. That's why he escaped from Macedonia and went to Bulgaria with his wife Ruza and his mother-in-law Granny Zumbula. But then, Zumbula dies and gets rolled up in a carpet waiting to go back to Macedonia, when it gets stollen. That's why Trendafil calles his blood brother from Italy called Santino Genoveze. They go across all Balcan countries trying to find the carpet and Granny Zumbula...

This movie is funny, sad, scary and has a very deep message. Watch it if you want, it's great ;)
