Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci   (April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519, Old Style) was an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer.

His genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance Man, a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination". He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) originated from the region of Florence, where he spent his childhood separated from his mother. Leonardo da Vinci's father by occupation is a scribe (notary), several women and has more than ten children. Among these, Leonardo da Vinci is his pet, whose talent for painting and discovering the secrets of nature is evident even in his early childhood. However, because too busy, even at the age of 12 his father brings Florence to opismeni. Since the beginning of schooling, Leonardo shows his extraordinary personality. Not only write with the left hand, but the texts written in the so-called mirror projection, so other readers are hard to figure out how to read his text. Father gives learning in the workshop of the master Andrea Verokio, working most perspective young artists. In it, through songs and poetry learn new techniques in painting and sculpture and reveal new opportunities for artistic expression. Leonardo, as a favorite of his teacher, participates in the development a pedestal konjanichkiot monument Koleoni in Venice. In painting he soon begins to acquire the trust of his teacher.

Leonardo himself is not considered a painter, but a scientist who the painting was used as "a poor method when announcing their scientific discoveries." His interest in science is very wide in many areas: anatomy, botany, biology, mechanics, hydraulics; same as in the field of art, architecture, literature, etc.. Can rightly say that he has set the basic structure drafts: helicopter, submarine, torpedo, tazlichni war machines and others. All that, due to technical prochini can not be realized in contemporary conditions. Leonardo's genius mind can hardly keep only a scientific or artistic field. He is restless and impatient exploring spirit, so that they often switch from one to another job, leaving many important works half-finished, and today still reveal some of his crtechi, sketches and texts.

In the paintings of Leonardo da Vinci, all these elements are combined into an organic whole. He discovers a new technique of painting with mixing oil and tempera, with constantly experimenting.

Famous paintings: The Last Supper, Mona Lisa, Virgin and Christ etc.
